50 mW on 20 meter

How low can I go? With an attenuator -10 dB and FT817 on 500 mW I did WSPR today with 50 mW RF out. Best distance was SV9KI 2432 km. That is 48620 km per watt. Or 30206 Miles per watt. SFI today was 68, No sunspots, A index: 8 K index: 1

40 meter this morning

  1. Seeing what 50mW's can do gives hope to all QRPers. I guess the difference is with WSPR there many stations out there with listening ears. When it comes to just calling CQ sometimes the listening stations are just not there. BUT having said that for sure our signals are getting out.

    1. Hi Mike, yes, indeed. I try sometimes calling CQ with CW QRPp but I see on Reverse Beacon Network that I have been heard, but no qso. 73 Paul

  2. Leuke resultaten Paul. Ik was ook op 20m WSPR met 1W. Maar ik vind het eigenlijk leuker om de RX resultaten te bekijken op PE1ITR's site. Met QRP en QRPp toch een hoop lol. 73, Bas

  3. You can go much lower! I'm getting 5294km maximum distance from a vertical delta loop fed with five (5) millwatts past 24 hours.
