Don’t be fooled by propagation predictions or expectations. Sometimes you will be surprised. In the early seventies there was no internet so the only thing to do was listening and monitoring HF bands to see if there is some propagation.
Tonight there was such a surprise. I started WSPR on 40 m with only 200mW. Right away I was spotted by VK5LA from QF05gq 15997 km (9044 miles) -27dB SNR. Not bad huh? So one lesson is learned again.
Always check the band and call CQ. You’ll never know.
