CME's

Well, that's means HF fade outs.

Yesterday I realized that my ears are incapable to pick up a weak signal from a S8 noise floor. That makes it difficult for weak CW or SSB signals. I use more and more digital modes like JT9-1 and JT65. They have no problem with a higher noise floor. Yesterday I spotted G7CNF on 20m with 10 mW. -24 dB. We can’t hear such signals with the human ear. Thanks to the increasing nowadays technology.

  1. I know what you mean Paul. I may have to go digital one of these days myself. Curious to see how my basic, non-processor rigs perform in Benodet. I have noticed a reduction in QRN over here with them.
