Solar wind

As you can see on this magnetogram, there was a high peak this afternoon. A high-speed stream of solar wind is buffeting Earth's magnetic field, setting the stage for possible geomagnetic activity. NOAA forecasters estimate a 60% chance of polar geomagnetic storms during the next 24 hours. (Source: Spaceweather.com Conditions on HF are already very poor.

  1. Good morning Paul, yes the wind has been really up there these past few days. I have a habit of checking out the propagation reports before getting on the radio. Seeing the forecast sometimes influences me to not even turn the rig on. Then again the next day I read blogs to find out conditions were great!! Oh well.

    1. Hi Mike, I do the same, though the possibility we miss something out there is obvious. 73 Paul
