Reminder

As a reminder: the nonsense and relativity of QRO.

I couldn't belief my eyes this morning. Wow, minus 21 C, that's a very long time ago we had temperatures like this. Now at noon it is minus 10 C. The kids are skating, and I checked 30 meter. I had a CW qso with SP9YFF/P.

  1. Hallo Paul,

    Goed weekend, 73 Paul

  3. Good afternoon Paul, WOW that is sure cold and reminds me of the temps we are supposed to be having here but not.

  4. You know that I do use QRP, but I'm hardly a fanatic.

QRP'rs, if you can forgive me saying so, seem always a bit defensive to me about their method of operation.

I think calling QRO "nonsense" is just as bad as the QRO'rs saying life is too short for QRP. I really don't understand why both sides draw (arbitrary) lines in the sand and refuse to enjoy the fruits of their labors at whatever power they choose and let others be.

BTW, 4 S-units is a LOT, IMHO. I don't often see my S-meter go that high. The noise level is usually between 2-3 S-units on average here.

  5. Hi Casey,
I am not a fanatic either. We shouldn’t take life (or hobby) too seriously. ;-) Main thing is to enjoy our hobby. QRP is not a religion, so isn´t CW. Do whatever you like to do, use the power you want, use the mode you like to do. Sometimes I use QRO too, but it is not always necessary. I did a lot of power tests with hams and most of the time they hear me with 5 watts also instead of 100 watts. More than 100 watts up to 1 KW is madness. But that´s my humble opinion.

  7. Hello Paul, Thank you for publishing the picture on your Blog. I never mentwith it, that QRO is nonsense. But what I mean is, when you receive a signal with 599 you can use 500 mw to 1 Watt to answer. Good luck with low power. 73, Bert
