Sorry guys, I am not giving a party. I am working in the garden. The big renovation of our garden has started.

PA3RK is testing the HyEndFed Multiband antenna for 40, 20 and 10 meter. Wire length 11,5 meter. He’s also testing a 12,5 meter wire with 1:9 UNUN balun. See the difference. The video is spoken in Dutch, hope you can understand a little bit of what he's doing. Soon I will replace my 20 meter mono band End Fed antenna for this one: a multiband end fed for 40-20-10 meter. I will replace the Falcon for a vertical for 6 meter only. Those 4 bands plus 2 meter and 70 cm is enough for me. I seldom work on 80 or 160 meter. 40 meter is a good alternative for the lower bands.

  19. Happy Birthday Paul. I know it is a late greeting, I only get to read your blog today!

I will watch the video, as I am interested in the results. I am using a 19.8 m wire with 9:1 un-un, the SRC X65. I have it in an inverted L with 28 ground radials. It works quite well for me, but you need a good tuner.

  20. Hmm... not a huge difference. Maybe my ears not so good! However, as the HyEndFed is resonant on the given frequencies and you don't need tuner, there is a distinct advantage. The 9:1 gives you flexibility, but as PA3RK says you do need a tuner.

Transmit tests would have been good too. I am also concerned that running the two antennas so close would have had an affect, but maybe on RX that is not an issue?

  21. Hello André, thank you. I agree with you, I will not place two antennas parallel so close, I think they will effect each other. I choose the end fed because my present 20 meter end fed is very good. A real good efficient antenna. 73 Paul
