Sinterklaas

Today I do not have much time for ham radio. My shack is in the living room, so there are playing kids here, you know. Tonight we celebrate Sinterklaas with the family. Before my son goes for a soccer game (and me too) it is raining (for weeks now) and its cold, I was listening on 40 meter. I heard IKØNMJ calling CQ. Valter from Assisi, Italy. We had a nice chat with SSB. I got a 57 report. He was 59 with his homemade GP and 300 watts. I wish you all a nice weekend. 73 Paul

  2. Hello Dick, thank you, the kids are a little bit nervous for the expecting presents. Though, they don't belief in Sinterklaas to be real. ;-) Have a nice weekend, 73 Paul

  3. I didn't know about this, Paul. As I'm sure you know, here "Santa Claus" visits on Christmas Day with presents for the children, which is also the anniversary of the birth of Jesus. So the religious festival gets overshadowed by a materialistic orgy of gift-giving. How do you guys celebrate Christmas Day?

  4. Hello Julian, Sinterklaas is an old Christian bishop who lived about 1300 years ago in Turkey. I believe that Santa Claus is originative from Sinterklaas. It sounds a bit the same. For me is Christmas indeed the anniversary of the birth of Christ. Over the last decades Christmas become more and more in the Netherlands as they do in England and USA. Presents and eating (too much) with the family, Hi. But family's with kids celebrate Sinterklaas abundantly. 73 Paul

;-) 73 Paul
